The Hallertau is the largest contigous Hop growing region in the world. The unique climate and fertile soil are the ideal basis for the growth of the plant which gives beers world wide it's great taste. Hops are also known for its natural healing powers and soothing effect.

Visit the "Holledau" and experience the Hops-harvest between August and September or relish the beatuy of the meadows, forests and flowers along a vast amount of hiking and biking trails. Visit the unique Hop-museum in Wolnzach with the world's largest hop umbel.

There are many local events in our town throughout the year which have become an attraction to visitors from near and far. The "Hopfenfest" in July, the "Weißbierfest" during Pentecost, the "Fastenmarkt" during Lent and the Herbstmarkt on Kirchweih are some of the festivities held.
