Our family business was first mentioned in the chronicles of Au near the end of the 19th century.

Among the local businesses which settled down in Au were seven restaurants. In 1872, succeeding the act of freedom of trade, the restaurant "Rosenwirt" was built in the town center. It is recorded that from 1868 to 1901 the Meier Family worked there and afterwards the Schiessl Family continued the business. In 1952 Wilhelm and Maria Rieger took charge of the house. In 1962 the hotel was completely rebuilt and renovated again in 1981. Their daughter Elisabeth Rieger runs the business together with her family today.

The Rosenwirt has become very popular among local and international guests.
